Computing (as an industry as well as a pastime) has changed remarkably in the short fifty years it’s existed. Gordon E. Moore, a co-founder of microprocessor giant Intel, stated in one of his papers in 1965 that computers were getting essentially twice as cheap, powerful or small every two years due to rapid advances in transistor technology.
