Although great content and site structure are necessary to have a well-optimized website, it’s not enough to merely rely on these two things. Quality inbound links are required if you want your website to rank higher in search engines. With this said, how does one manage to get links from trusted websites? There are a lot of answers to this confusing question but the most successful way to do so is through successful link-building efforts. To do so, one has to come up with compelling content which are often called “link baits”. Creativity is the only thing that limits one’s ability to come up with link-bait tactics but here are a few things to help jump-start your campaign.

List Posts
People love list posts. But they do not just gobble up all list posts. They are looking for list posts which are packed with solid facts and helpful resources. There is something with lists that never fails to get people all curious and interested.
Contests and Giveaways
The prospect that one might win something or get something for free can be extremely tempting for almost anyone. Fact is that everybody loves free stuff. It only follows that one can create a lot of buzz just by running an online contest. For more exposure, try announcing your contest through a press release. One advantage of holding a contest is that they work well for all kinds of industries whether you’re selling silk pajamas or carpets. Launch an extremely fun contest and watch the links increase.
Trending Topics
Because you want people to read your content and share it, you should search for topics which are deemed as controversial and popular. You can take a look at the list of trending topics released by various websites like Yahoo! and Twitter, and write articles which center on these topics.
Videos
With so many videos going viral, entrepreneurs are always enticed to create videos in a bid to duplicate the success of so many viral videos in the past. The only problem with relying on videos to build links is that this strategy is very unpredictable. There is no way for one to say for sure that a video would go viral or that it would not. If one is still determined to release a video, then the only method to ensure that at least one would go viral is to release multiple videos.
